The Bowles School Promise:
Samuel Bowles School is a Pre-K to 5 building that offers Creative writing, Science, Physical Education to all students in grades K to 5. As a Title I school we offer additional Reading support to students in need.
Bowles grade 3-5 students are accustomed to a 90 minute block schedule. This model has been observed by the State and other principals in the city, with some principals implementing the model in their respective schools. To support early reading and literacy we have been able to provide an after school MCAS tutoring program for all students in Grades 3-5. Samuel Bowles also offers a Bowles Summer Learning Camp, offered to all students in Grades 2-5 during the month of July. Bowles is currently participating in the School Home Visit project.
On several occasions throughout the school year, the teachers at Samuel Bowles will hold a professional development class, teaching parents about the ELA and Math elementary curriculum and homework help for parents. It is a school‐wide initiative to build a bridge between school and family while empowering our parents with both ELA and Math strategies to support student learning at home. Our goal is to create a safe atmosphere for our students that are most conducive to learning. Our PBIS program is designed to support and create a safe learning environment that is most conducive to student achievement.
